How To Handle The Bride and Dad Relationship

SUBJECT:  Handling Dads While Planning A Wedding Celebration!
by Judith Rivers-Moore - The Wedding Coach on WeddingLinks.com
Love to have your comments!!!

A great deal happens in all your relationships as you plan a wedding celebration!

Can any of us really handle our dads.  The answer is YES.  Most of us by 15 know their touchy spots, how they feel about money, their weaknesses and their strengths....so you have most of the tools to bring your dad into focus.  So why is a wedding celebration such a touchy subject with dad, and just where does he fit into the planning experience.  From meeting the parents of the groom to participating in bachelor party (sometimes) to toasting at the engagement party or rehearsal dinner, taking you down the aisle, and your dad and daughter dance...it is important to keep him in the loop.

1.  Of course brides often look to parents for monetary assist, but today please comprehend many of the parents lost a great deal of their retirement funds and cannot be as generous as they were ten years ago... (easy to understand).  Most parents try to come up with a gift of substance or specific dollar amounts today  So you may be on your own more in the funding of your wedding.  Believe me, it really hurts a dad, so this may be something where you can sooth his bruised ego.  No matter, encourage him to enjoy the celebration and contribute in other ways.

When he is miles away, set up family HangOuts on Google or Skype dates. When dads have a close relationship with their daughters, it is a unique experience to let them go to another man.

2. His assistance can be invaluable.  If nearby, take him to a bridal show to price out the venues and vendors.  If he is good at web research have him find the best for the least price in your area.  Men often like to price out the wine and beer or bar services for an event and possibly transportation services.

3. Feeling left out of his daughter's life and letting go to another man he has two major concerns for a caring father. That the guy is good enough for you, and if you truly love this man.

He's been the king of your world for years!

4. Sometimes brides confide they are closer to a step-dad - than their own dad. We often see both dads walk the bride down the aisle or.... no dads on the aisle. We see bride and groom walking in together, and brides walking alone and independent.  We see favorite uncles, granddads, moms, business partners, etc walking her down the aisle. So relax and make your own decision.

5. Sometimes brides have a dad and a step-dad.  There are many concerns with this. Her decision for the seating arrangement at the ceremony can be a horrific decision for brides to make .  Here are some clues.

Brides' families that get along well:  Front seating:  Left side: Both sets of mothers and fathers in front aisle.
Rest of mother's children and families sit in 2nd aisle back and step mothers children 3rd aisle back

Brides families that do not get along well (even if dad brings the bride down the aisle.)  Mother and her new husband or guest in front aisle with her children in second row.  Former husband (brides' dad) sits down with his new wife or guest and children in the 3rd aisle.

At the reception: If it is a hard choice, give each of the dads their own table to host or place them with different groups of people.

All WHITE Weddings Are Still In Style

Mobile Access on

SUBJECT:  All White Weddings Are Still In Style

I don't think they will ever go out of style.  Of course the first question people ask you about the wedding is ..."What is your key-color?" Sometimes this takes a little more dialogue - All White is understood by women more than the guys?  So be prepared.  These are a few good tips to pass along on this creative venture.

Some brides go wild with colors!!
Your choice...

TIPS on hosting an all white wedding...

1.  Choose your venue carefully for this style wedding. Preview sites with a checklist for carpets, walls and decor that can really cause the clash to all white weddings that.... you do not want.  I have yet to see white carpet in an event site....
2.  Understand there are 15 or 20 shades of white.....so start with with dress and linens on the tables.
3.  We have yet to find a totally white rose, mum or orchid. Most are creamy, beige, pink, champagne, ivory.
4.  When you state white wedding, it all begins with the wedding dress and invitations.
5.  White weddings work well year round.
6.  Chair covers add elegance to your white table linens.
7.  Be prepared at hotels or banquet rooms in restaurants to pay more for "specific white table linens".
8. Some whites diminish a bride's beauty. Look at the whites of your eyes and skin tones for your best shade.

We would love your input on our blog to this creative white wedding ideas!!!

Sexy Wedding Shoes Are A Fun Addition To Your Wedding Wardobe

LOVE Those Shoes - So In Love Am I With Sexy Shoes.....But We All Must Take Sensibility To The Store When Shopping For Wedding Dress Shoes!!

Seven Questions To Consider When Selecting Wedding Shoes!

DUPhotography.com

I love the glamour shoes on the market…..they make our legs and ankles look amazing! Having a bit of a shoe fetish myself, I have had to come to grips on what I buy for what occassion.

DUPhotography.com

I see brides and brides to be - wearing some very unique shoes, fun colors, lace boots, platform shoes with strap-styles, and tights. There are great ideas for fun glamour style shoes to match their attire. I have also had to help brides who fell in them, and helped tuck wedding dresses around the ankle boots and casts worn for sprained and broken ankles.

Yes we have all been warned. Some of us are very adept at wearing very high heels. So whether you are great at wearing the 3-7 inch heels,  consider  these Seven Questions to think about as you select your shoes for your wedding day apparel.

Consider how you look walling in the very high shoes You have spent all this money on a dress that you want to wear gliding down the aisle. With very high heels....The view of your body for most women is to lurch forward from the waist up - to keep the balance. Many look like they are taking a gallop....not what you want on the wedding aisle. So work on the posture and walk in your shoes well in advance if wearing very high heels.

When shopping for shoes, the questions are:

1. Can you wear them again with anything else? Do we want to be practical?
2. Are you on a beach, garden terrace or lawns with uneven steps at your venue?
3. Can you dance in them?
4. Can you score the bottoms of the soles so they do not slip on different surfaces?
5. How many hours can you stand in them without the shoes hurting?
6. Do you have strong ankles?
7. Do they make you taller than your groom?

TIPs
Sometimes brides select two pair of shoes to wear on their wedding day.
Score the bottom of the shoe with a sharp knife to keep you from slipping on various surfaces.
Take a very good look/photo the fabric of your dress to match it out with color, fabric and style.
Flats and ballet style shoes work best on sand.

Love your comments & photos on wedding shoes...

Manhattan to Sonoma Wine Country Wedding Invitations & Unique Wedding Invites

Your Wedding Invitations have a great deal to do with how formal or informal your wedding celebration will be. Various parts of the country are influenced by formality while others are "anything goes".
                                                           DUPhotography.com
You are the best decision-maker on the theme, style and statement you want to carry through to your guests from your invitation.  There are some tips in this blog, but there is also an extensive article at
http://www.weddinglinks.com/articles/invitations_mailing.asp covering major time line on completing the selection and mailing.  The invitation STILL sets the style of your wedding day celebration. There are so many fun ideas and beautiful papers to choose from with embossed, engraved, printed and monogram invites from various companies.   I'd Love To Have Your Input On This Subject!
Safety TIP...
Please, understand. e-mail is a great communicator, facebook, etc, your wedding webpage is a great communicator, but do not place your specific dates, times and places in these areas. There are so many break-ins while couples are at their wedding celebrations. (Hackers can find out when you are gone.)  Keep these announcements on your mailed invitations.

I suggest:
  1. Once you decide on prevailing theme or style for your nuptials (you will find a great list here) http://www.invitationsbydawn.com/index.jsp
  2. Send out once you have the date Early "Save The Date" cards for destination guests and relatives.
  3. Short on budget...Choose a light weight invite so mailing is less expensive. You can find reasonably priced invites at Big Lots or the Dollar Stores and print them yourself.  Yes, there is not much we can do about the postal rates, but hand deliver as many as you can to bring costs down.
  4. Average cost to mail, if the weight is normal, for a first class stamp = two per invite, (one for the reply and one for the outer mailing envelope.

Wedding Rings & Men's Wedding Bands

***********Love to have your comments!!!

Subject:  Wedding Rings & Men’s Wedding Bands

Most of you have favorite jewelers in your neighborhood and some may be shopping for rings for the very first time.  When selecting rings, couples sometimes look for a 3-ring set to match between them. While this is romantic, it may come with a few concerns. You like diamonds – he does not want them in his ring.  You like certain metals or have a metal reaction (allergy) to gold that is less than 18 carat. You are both very strong individuals and require different looks. He does not plan to wear a ring.  Whichever it is, you may appreciate some of the tips below.

  1. You are looking for the 4-C’s when shopping for diamonds; cut, clarity, color and carat size.
  2. We see many rings including the birth date gemstones or her favorite stone in the rings.
  3. Platinum, Gold, Tungsten, Silver and Wood appear to be favorites. In some parts of the world Ceramics are used. We are seeing couples purchase designer rings, vintage rings and those specifically created by goldsmiths.
  4. Many couples seek the jewelers who carry specific companies. Hearts on Fire, Graff, Genisis, Cartier, Tiffany, Verraigo.
  5. Even stones graded SI1 -- seven levels below flawless -- can seem perfect to the naked eye if the diamond is well cut.  There are some amazing cuts available on the market.
  6. Online shopping for rings might be fun to review styles, but think about the romantic connection of selecting your rings together at a local jeweler.
  7. Saving Money can be done by: look for less-popular shapes, notably ovals, hearts and marquise. In jewelry retailers, not purchasing name brand rings, purchasing only matching bands, use of a cubic zirconia as the main stone in the engagement ring, purchase from reputable pawn shops and consider an inherited family ring, plus jewelry wholesalers are places couples save.
  8. Should you purchase ring insurance. Some swear by it. Losing a diamond of any type can be pricey to replace. So much has to do with your budget and what you do with your hands.
  9. Always ask about the store warranty before purchasing.   You should have a 30-day return policy at a reputable store. Also your credit card or a department store will have a warranty on purchase.
Find the jewelers with a great business history on WeddingLinks.co
P.S. He has surprised you with a ring and you do not care for it. Re-sizing is one thing, but replacing the look takes a delicate discussion to not hurt his feelings. This happened to me. He knew I loved hearts and he purchased a heart shaped diamond. I loved it, but because I type/write so much, I knew it would be off my hand all too often, and with the chance it might get lost. I explained my concern, so we went in to see if we could find one that was a solid piece – both engagement and wedding. It never swings on my hand, and I always wear it.
