How To Select Your Wedding Dress & Bridesmaid Dresses

We realize at WeddingLinks.co  -  how much you want to go out, find a local bridal shop, and try on dresses in the search for your perfect wedding dress !  Here are some helpful tips in this blog entry, and much of it comes from finding the styles you believe will work well for:

Your Body Contures,  Your Style Wedding, Your Skin Tones & Your Budget

Consider Saving Time and Wear & Tear On Your Life by Previewing Gowns In The WeddingLinks.co Gallery of Dress Designers (Over 300 dress designers.)

Save some time and gain some understanding of terminology,  and decide on the time of year, and style of your wedding - before you enter the bridal shops.  WeddingLinks.co links over 300 top wedding dress design houses, bridesmaid or flower girl dreses and tuxedo or suit designers.  We also link local bridal shops in the GLOBAL SEARCH Page leading to each area menu,

We continue to encourage you to NOT purchase a wedding dress, until you have determined your wedding site, your budget, and the style wedding you want.  We know the shops tell you to purchase, but understand you will not want to arrive down the aisle with a winter dress in the summer and/or an inappropriate dress for a church wedding, or to formal ....or not formal enough for the wedding you finally create.

Once you create your budget, determine your style wedding, then consider shopping for your gowns.

1. Learn the names of the styles prior to shopping at a store so the stylist can fetch the correct styles for you.  This link will give you guidance  regarding:
LENGTH, Short, Long, Knee Length, Tea Length, Mini and Assemetrical.
STYLE,  Ball Gown,  A-Line, Princess,  Chapel Train, Trumpet,  Modified A-Line and Sheath styles.
FABRIC, Satin, Summer Satin, Lace, Tulle, Tafata, Silk, Chiffon, Embossed, See through can be very embarrassing, if it is see through to a "need to be covered area".

Most shop owners train their staff to understand body shapes and to be good listeners.  Sometimes a dress on a hangar looks awful, but put it on, and  WOW !

2. Please do not buy something online, or on sale, and expect another shop to FIT it for you.  You will need to find a local tailor or seamstress to help you with this.

3. Your body shape and size - please do not be insulted when the dress comes in a larger size. The store seamstress must have enough fabric to work with to complete your fittings.  You want a dress that is flattering.  Looking back at the puffy sleeves they put on Princess Diana is a pure example of what NOT to do to your body.  I loved the Princess, yet this gown was overdo!

4. Understand the difference between summer satin and heavy winter satin.  Lace gowns are very popular in the past five years and the trends will continue.  You can enjoy the videos of current designer bridal gown fashion videos HERE.

5. When you shop, take a friend you trust or your mom, all or one of your bridesmaids when you shop.  Sometimes the first gown  we try on - ends up being IT.  But we do recommend trying on several gowns.

6.  If you are having your dress made.  Please go to a professional seamstress.  It is a lot of responsibility to hand a friend, or your mom, or your sister.  Just cutting into expensive fabric takes a lot of nerve.  I know, I have done it.

How Online Shopping Gives Savings & Can Help With Wedding Planning In Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland & Santa Rosa

Every day we find more and more brides turn to online searches and purchases to shape up their wedding day.
While we firmly believe it is important to shop local for the most important wedding day planning decisions, Important to meet personally and signing agreements with each of your vendors is vital to your being able to relax and enjoy your wedding day.  Confidence in who you hire is an underlying factor. Searching the internet is a very helpful beginning to any wedding planning.

We found people today shop online for wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, great prices on wedding invitations and great ideas for wedding favors, The concern is the errors we make when ordering online,  Having someone wait on us and be involved with our purchase can be very helpful when we have so many things to do - to shape up a wedding day.
GiftShopping.Biz  Has A Great Wedding Store

These Shopping TIPS might help:

Receipts - Keep a printout of all online receipts in your records book. Note the date ordered and calendar your I phone for the day they should be arriving.

Invitations - use another set of eyes to proof for dates, times and spelling. We find people are inclined to put the wrong year in an invite. If you are having a Friday or Sunday wedding, then please indicate the day and date.  Friday, December 18th, 2015....people have been known to calendar the wrong day. ooopps

With wedding favors, ordering the correct number is important.  How do you know until the last minute how many guests are coming?  Very few companies can give you the last five or ten days prior to a wedding shipments.  So choose your company in the USA and pay for the fastest shipping.  Or order ahead and accept the left overs.

Ordering a wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses online is complicated - regarding the correct sizes.  Each company handles this differently.  You will likely have to order a dress too large and have it altered by a local seamstress.  Consider prior to purchase, if there is a good seamstress in your area who knows how to do wedding dress alterations. Many dress shops will NOT alter your purchase from another store. Because of color vat changes, order the bridesmaid dresses together, so the colors come from the same colored cloths.

Wedding Flowers ordered online - Please go with a reputable company....Yes, they often save money.  Yet you may have anxity over their arrival, have to store them in a cool area until you complete the bouquets.  If they come loose in boxes, someone has to arrange them and get them into vases and into the decor you outline.  Working with flowers can stain and give your hands a very bad look for wedding photos.  Decorating the cake can be a nightmare for last minute prep.

Wedding Rings & Gift Jewelry - it helps to order these ahead with a company that guarantees refunds.  When your attendant gifts arrive, be certain to check their quality, if each item fastens correctly and count them out, to make certain your ordered the correct number.  Keep a printout of all online receipts in your records book.

Gift Baskets For Your Guests - Often brides want to provide a nice gift basket in the rooms for parents or grandparents.  If they are to be delivered to a hotel, make certain the room clerk knows ahead that you are expecting delivery.

Wedding Dress Designers Include Short Wedding Dresses In Their Collections for 2015

SHORT wedding dresses do go in and out of style - and yet there are some occasions with they are the perfect idea for your wedding.  Personally I love all the dress lengths and shoulder/neckline looks. But the designers certainly have come out with some cute styles.

Appropriate times according to the designers are for: very casual weddings, eloping (same day weddings), and for beach weddings.  You will find them in most of the designer house links on ...  http://www.weddinglinks.co/wedding-dresses   We noted Melissa Sweet and Alfred Angelo offer several ideas.  Monique Lhuillier carried short dresses in her 2015 fall and winter collection and the  2014 spring summer - several short dresses with beautiful capes.

Love to have your input........Let me know what you think of this merging trend. Review the designers photographes on the WeddingLinks.com Gown Gallery to see some of the newest trends.
